Using Orange Tags

The Unsafe Appliance/Component Warning Tag is commonly referred to as an Orange Tag or a Red Tag. This orange warning tag is designed for use on installs/service calls when an unsafe appliance or propane system component is encountered.

How to Tag the System

  • Attach the tag to the malfunctioning appliance or piping with the wire provided
  • Detach the small tag at the end to bring back to the office for upload to P3 and storage in the customer file

What the Unsafe Appliance/Component Warning Tag Communicates to the Customer:

  • An appliance is installed improperly (according to code)
  • An appliance is malfunctioning
  • An appliance is in an unserviceable condition
  • The source of a leak cannot be located or corrected and the system is shut down and secured
  • A section of piping or an appliance(s) is leaking or cannot be corrected

  1. When a technician Orange Tags an appliance it will be noted on the P3 Safety Inspection form here:

  2. Enter that documentation into P3. From the main menu, choose Enter > Safety Inspection/Gas Check

  3. When entering the appliance information you will be asked to note if the appliance was taken out of service, what the tag number is, and the reason for tagging the system:

  4. Your dashboard monitors your outstanding tags.
